Sejarah Dojo Aikikenkyukai
Aikikenkyukai Dojo was established in May 1998 with his first dojo at Universitas Pelita Harapan. This Dojo was opened by Imanul Hakim Sensei who at that time still holds the level of DAN 2. The beginning of the journey of Dojo under the direction of Imanul Hakim Sensei has no specific name. Then from one dojo developed into 3 dojo in 1999 and continues to grow. In early 2000, it was Imanul Hakim Sensei’s first trip to Japan and training at Hombu Aikikai, then become a routine agenda. The next event followed was the Osaka Aikikai Embukai event in Osaka and the International Aikido Federation Seminar in Tokyo Japan in 2004 and became the first Indonesian to represent Indonesia in Embukai International IAF, along with other countries from around the world.
After attending this IAF event, Imanul Hakim Sensei and some of his students are still living and studying at Hombu Aikikai and with some senior Sensei. In every event or exercise Imanul Hakim Sensei always asked the name of his dojo. At that time in Indonesia every dojo had a different name, although it was taught by the same Sensei. So after returning from Japan, Imanul Hakim Sensei gathered his senior students and talked about the name of the dojo. Then, it was agreed that Aiki InYoKai Dojo to be mention as the name of all dojo under Imanul Hakim Sensei direction. In early 2005, again had the opportunity to visit Japan with a new dojo name. However, after being given input by senior Sensei in Japan and Japanese friends, then when returning from Japan the name Aiki InYoKai changed to Aikikenkyukai which means Place to practice and research about Aiki.
Aikikenkyukai Dojo carries the vision and mission as follows:
The name change coincided with the opening of Aikikenkyukai Dojo Head Quarter at Kelapa Gading Sport Mall on May 1, 2005. The opening of the Head Quarter Dojo was opened by the Japanese Ambassador at the time, Mr. Yutaka Imura. In 2008 Imanul Hakim Sensei was invited to Japan to become the uke of Ikuhiro Kubota Shihan at the All Japan Embukai event at Nippon Budokan. Imanul Hakim Sensei became the first Indonesian to participate in the All Japan Embukai. In the same time, Imanul Hakim Sensei was invited to join Embukai at Shonan Aikido Renmei and International Aikido Kenkyukai Anniversary in Kamakura Japan. In the same year, Aikikenkyukai Dojo invited Yoshinobu Takeda Sensei from International Aikido Kenkyukai Japan to give lecture in International Seminar. The event was attended by about 200 participants, which became the biggest event in 2008.
In May 2015, Aikikenkyukai Dojo celebrates 10 years of Anniversary (20 years if counted from 1998) by inviting Takanori Kuribayashi Shihan as the representative of Hombu, and Ikuhiro Kubota Shihan from Nara Aikikai, who since 2000 always came and gave lecture to Aikidoka in Indonesia.
